This is a practice-based workshop. Guided by two highly experienced and supportive teachers, participants will explore and develop their awareness of the dynamic sources of voice in the body and the imagination.
The focus will be on individual voices, texts and songs, as well as group work, sounds, and songs. Awakening awareness of the body as a vital space allows us to build a deeper connection with the voice, so that it can become a medium of transmission, nourished and fed by true roots in the body.
Neil Paris has led workshops for many years with Margaret, and uses dance, theatre and yoga practices to explore imaginative approaches to making connections and pathways through the body to the voice. He combines playful exercises designed to free the body and stimulate the imagination with quiet, disciplined practices that connect us to our breath and our unique inner worlds.
In the mornings the focus will be on individual voices. In the afternoons we will work in groups on improvisations, texts and/or songs brought by each person.

Worked with Roy Hart and was part of the Roy Hart Theatre (before 1991)
Roy Hart Voice Teacher since 1970
My work is rooted in the Wolfsohn-Hart approach to exploring the human voice. I aim to help my students to not only free their voices but also to feel emotionally and physically connected to their vocal range in a way that builds a sense of vocal empowerment. Each student can come to feel that their voice belongs to them and that they possess a repertoire of vocal possibilities to which they have conscious access and which corresponds to who they are. I offer individual voice lessons online and in Malérargues. More information about my experience, my way of working and reflections on this approach to voice work can be found in my book “Owning our Voices: Vocal Discovery in the Wolfsohn-Hart Tradition,” written with Dr Patrick Campbell. It was published by Routledge, in January 2021.

I use dance and theatre practices to explore imaginative ways of making connections and pathways through the body to the voice. I combine playful exercises designed to free the body and spark the imagination with more disciplined practices that connect us with our breathing and our own unique interior worlds.
My aim is to help people to gain greater awareness and confidence in the way move and to help them to use that in their vocal explorations.
