Monologues

The elements of acting technique that we will be using contain a specific system, iwherein the actor/actress must feel, be in contact with their own “energetic body”, perceive and guide the “inner movements” and bring them to life in the scene through the character. The primary aim of the seminar is to introduce the fundamental characteristics of Chekhov’s poetics and style and of those who have been inspired or influenced by his writings and poetics. We are at the crossroads of universal dramaturgy.  The poetry of these authors speaks to us of a moral imperative that is still relevant today: the absolute need to have the courage to live one’s life by making the choices one wants to make. No one can be happy or achieve what they want if they don’t have the courage to fight to be happy, to reaffirm our profound humanity and try to spread it around us, in the hope that it will be contagious. The second objective is the genius of expressing the divorce between speech and desire or will. The same is true in the field of action, where characters are only able to do or say what they want at critical moments. This makes it difficult for the actor to take the text literally. As a result, even the actor’s technique has to adapt to this poetic proposition. The scenes and monologues will be communicated a few weeks before the workshop.
