Phil Timberlake

Singer, Actor, Voice Trainer
Lives in Chicago, USA
Roy Hart Voice Teacher since 2013

Voice work is a personal journey. When pursued with curiosity and delight, a vibrant and dynamic vocal expression is available to everyone. I aim to release joy, creativity, and passion through the voice and into the world. My goal as a teacher is to approach each student with care, and treat each one as an individual. Through deep listening, I encourage the profound possibilities in each person’s unique voice.

Phil is a Chicago-based actor and voice trainer. He has been working with Roy Hart Theatre teachers since 1992. In 1996, Phil won a Fulbright Fellowship to come to France to live and work at Malérargues. His artistic projects range from the traditional (Shakespeare, Shaw, new works), to literary adaptations (Edgar Allan Poe, Neil Gaiman, JRR Tolkien) and experimental projects (Frederico Garcia Lorca’s poetry with Blair Thomas puppetry, TS Eliot’s Four Quartets: Variations with Ariel Artists). Phil is an Associate Professor of Voice and Speech at DePaul University’s Theatre School in Chicago. He is also an Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voice work.
Phil Timberlake trained with Kaya M. Anderson, Richard Armstrong, David Goldsworthy, Carol Mendelsohn, Saule Ryan and Linda Wise.
He teaches in English.
