Georgian polyphonic chants
A concert by the Madlobeli Ensemble
Amélie ABEGG, Marianne LEGENDRE, Magali MEJEAN, Daredjane MELIAVA (voix et pandouri), Anne PIFFARD, Laurent STEPHAN (voix et tchongouri), Boris TEULADE.
Madlobeli is a fledgling Georgian polyphonic vocal ensemble based in the Cevennes and uniting male and female voices under the guidance of Laurent Stéphan, Roy Hart Centre teacher and lover of Georgia and her songs for over twenty years. Madlobeli means “grateful” in Georgian. It is to express their gratitude that the members of the group have chosen this name: gratitude to Georgia for giving them a repertoire of exceptional variety and richness, and gratitude to life for bringing them together in their shared passion for polyphony.
