Objective:
Increase our presence on stage and in life. Unfold our creativity with body and voice to move towards a personal and unique interpretation of a text or song.
Body awareness and vocal expression:
On the floor, we will focus our attention on the geography of our body, the presence of our breath and the perception of our fine musculature when using our voice. Moving will help us relate to space and others.
In small groups, we’ll explore all the colours of the speaking and singing voice. Through breath, the resonating spaces of the bones, movement, rhythm, and giving voice to our emotions, we will develop a vibrant, rooted voice.
Improvisation :
With creative joy and out of the present moment all we’d never thought of for our voice can emerge. We will play with archetypes, soundscapes, objects from nature, and anything other possible imaginative stimulus.
Sometimes participants will be invited to reinforce a personal impulse – e.g. through a vocal or verbal chorus – thus weaving a link between individual and collective work.
Singing together:
At the end of the day, the beauty of polyphonic singing will allow us to feel our own voices merging with those of the others, while remaining centred and confident in ourselves.
Preparation before the workshop:
Choose and memorise a short extract (no longer than three minutes) from a text or song that is close to your heart!

In the Roy Hart Theatre I learned to listen to the body, the voice and the presence of the Other. When I teach I become the mirror, the resonator, and I let my feelings come. We move forward together. With or without the piano. Something happens that has to do with magic, birth, the realm of fancy. It is different for everyone. A philosophy? I don’t know. For me, it's more a practice by which I nurture the meeting of the Other, and of oneself, in the moment.

I love discovering the beauty of an individual voice: beauty in the sense of singing from a place within us where we are confident, conscious and authentic; dancing with the voice deeply rooted in the body; giving voice to whatever is inside or around us and transforming it into music; singing and living everything which envelopes our soul-voice - feelings, memories, thoughts, emotional or muscular tensions, dreams.... This lively creativity necessitates a high quality of listening, both to myself and to others - to feel connected. For me it's a marriage between art and spirituality, embracing everything. It’s my life.
