Ivan Midderigh

Actor, Singer, Photographer, Leadership Communication Trainer
Lives in Malérargues, France
Worked with Roy Hart and was part of the Roy Hart Theatre (before 1991)

As a facilitator and teacher, I have always appreciated the psychology of group dynamics and harnessing the alchemy of collective energy to create a frame within which individuals are empowered to express themselves with clarity and confidence.

Born in Somerset (England) and educated through Rudolf Steiners’s Waldorf School system, Ivan is a graduate of the Brighton College of Arts and Crafts where he studied fine arts and photography. While working as a freelance photographer in London, he attended the first Roy Hart Theatre voice workshop in 1971 and subsequently became a member of the company.

Ivan performed in many of the Roy Hart Theatre productions and moved with the company to Malérargues (France), where he helped establish the Centre Artistique International Roy Hart. For over 35 years, drawing on his expertise in the pioneering voice work of the Roy Hart Theatre and its application in leadership training and development, Ivan has led corporate seminars and workshops internationally across a wide array of industries.

He has taught at the Centre for Executive Education at the Haas school of Business, University of California at Berkeley (2009 – 2017) and at the Olin School of Business at Washington University, St Louis Missouri, UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, Dublin, Ireland, and the Berlin School of Creative Leadership. In addition to teaching and performing Ivan created and curates the Roy Hart Theatre Photographic Archives.

He is also co-Founder and Programme Director of MidderighVox, providing worldwide leadership training and coaching in presence, listening, expression, communications and storytelling. He also runs retreats for business professionals at the Centre Artistique International Roy Hart.

A resident of France and citizen of the world, having taught in 20 countries and lived in the UK, France, The Netherlands, USA, Ireland and South Africa, Ivan now divides his time between teaching and performing at the Roy Hart Theatre headquarters in Malérargues, and corporate training and facilitation work internationally. He is currently performing as Sarastro in the production of Zauber, directed by Ian Magilton and inspired by Mozart’s The Magic Flute.

Ivan has worked with Roy Hart, Dorothy Hart, Marita Günther, Derek Rossignol, Nadine George, Barry Coglan and Lucienne Deschamps.
He speaks English and French.
