Joe Coo et Nador

Friday 18 August at 9pm
Joe Coo and Nador

Joe Coo, singer and guitarist with an astonishing vocal range, accompanied on percussion by Nador. Both are Togolese artists.

Description:
Singer-songwriter, guitarist, and percussionist, Joe-Coo has developed a music inspired by traditional African rhythms and songs, blending influences from blues, rock, jazz and opera.

Nador, a percussionist steeped in West African tradition since childhood, accompanies Joe’s music with captivating power and sensitivity.

Joe Coo’s voice is surprisingly emotionally charged, yet always supple and expressive, playing at times with delirious onomatopoeia. His voice sings all the colours of the soul: a concert full of emotion and poetry.

Joe Coo would like to dedicate this concert to Roy Hart and Alfred Wolfsohn, whose work he discovered in Lomé, Togo, when he heard Margaret Pikes sing with the jazz trio Anima and then took lessons with her.
