CARESSES, solo for voice, ukulele and lost poems

Slovenian vocalist Katja Šulc delivers an emotional performance, whether by a love song to a whale, a 17th century poem of lamentation, or a traditional Aztec lullaby.

With: Katja Šulc

Description:

Katja Šulc is an acclaimed Slovenian singer, songwriter and musician. Her style blends poetry set to music, contemporary folk, and storytelling. Using electronic devices to loop and multiply her voice on stage, she experiments with modern and traditional poetry, embracing invented and endangered languages, taking the listener on an emotional journey with a love song to a whale, a 17th-century lamentation poem or a traditional Aztec lullaby.

Katja Šulc has released four studio albums, including a Tribute to Rromani Poetry from the Balkans and Eastern Europe with Kamlisajlan (in 2016) and Caricias (in 2021). She has performed in concert all over the world, from Morocco to Nepal, from China to South America. She is currently working on her fifth album, inspired by Native American poetry.
