Show : Agamemnon

Description:
Agamemnon was created so that it could be performed anywhere for any audience, so for it to be performed in Thoiras, by a woman, alone, in Swedish is exotic and logical!

What is justice? What is the relation of justice to vengeance? Can justice be reconciled with the demands of religion, the force of human feeling, the intractability o Fate?

Agamemnon is the lurid bedrock of the Oresteian Trilogy, which is considered by many to be the foundation stone of European philosophy, plurality and law. Democracy that is once again under pressure from vengeful tyrants.

Resume:
Helen, the most beautiful woman in the world is seduced away to Troy by Paris. Her brother-in law Agamemnon gathers an army of a thousand ships to revenge this crime, but the wind from the north prevents them from setting out. The seer says it is the anger of the goddess Artemis that is sending the wind and that she must be appeased with the sacrifice of Agamemnon’s virgin daughter Iphigenia, which in fear of the army turning on him he does. The wind changes and they sail off to Troy leaving his wife Clytemnestra, the mother of Iphigenia behind. After ten years of war and the trick of the ‘Trojan Horse’ the Greeks are victorious and destroy the city.
Among the spoils of victory Agamemnon brings home Cassandra, princesse of Troy, who is blessed by the god Apollo with the gift to see the future and at the same cursed that no-one will believe her. She foresees her own murder and that of Agamemnon by Clytemnestra.
