Richard Armstrong’s career spans four decades and several continents; he is known internationally as voice teacher, performer and director. One of the foremost explorers of the extension of the human voice, his work has taken him to over 35 countries, and inspired generations of vocal performers and artists. He has given workshops and demonstrations of his work throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia. He works also as a visual artist and writer from his studio in the Hudson Valley, NY, having trained originally as a painter under Richard Hamilton at Newcastle University’s Fine Art Department in the 1960s. His annual International Voice Workshops were part of the curriculum at the Banff Centre, Canada for over 30 years. Richard Armstrong is Associate Arts Professor at New York University’s Experimental Theatre Wing at the Tisch School of the Arts, teaches annually for its International Summer School in Amsterdam and for companies and schools around the world.
